Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours


In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
  • 81 illegal deeds (20 crimes and 61 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 11,100 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 123,000 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 88,000 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 26,100 means of transportation.
    4 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and also 21 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.

  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 197,000 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 99,100 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 29,700 means of transportation.
    16 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and also 29 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.

  • 65 illegal deeds (17 crimes and 48 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 18,300 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 252,000 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 88,300 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 29,000 means of transportation.
    9 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and also 1 foreign 32 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.

Cigarettes smuggling at Porumbesti


Five people are incriminated by Romanian Border Police officers for smuggling. At the residence of one of them 2,900 packages of cigarettes, Ukrainian made, just brought into Romania illegally, over the green border, were detected.
On 24 th of October 2011, around 21.30, Border Police officers within Halmeu Border Police Sector, detected three people walking from the border line towards Romania, Porumbesti area. They were carrying two big boxes per each. In order not to be apprehended by Border Police officers, the three people started to run, reaching Porumbesti area.
Border Police officers continued the investigations and in the aforementioned village, Porumbesti, in an annex of a building, detected a person, Arnold Nicolae T., 22 years old. Later on, at Ferencz. T residence, 22 years old, from Porumbesti, our colleagues detected six big boxes wrapped in black foil, containing 2,900 packages of cigarettes, Ukrainian made: 2,500 packages of Viceroy cigarettes and 400 packages of Ronson cigarettes, valuing about 12,470 LEI.
Arnold Nicolae T. and Ferencz T. were led to the premises of Halmeu Border Police Sector for being interviewed. They stated that Ferencz T. was the one transporting the cigarettes from the border line to his place in Porumbesti and Arnold T. had to survey the area of the smuggling in order to signal the presence of Border Police officers. Three different people were also involved in this crime: Jozsef E., 28 years old together with Ioan S., 33 years old who were supposed to transport the cigarettes from the border line to the aforementioned building and Istvan S., 23 years old having the role of surveying the area in order to signal the presence of Border Police officers.
The cigarettes were to be sold on Romania’s territory and the money to be split into four to the people involved in this crime. Border Police officers seized the whole amount of cigarettes, and Ferencz T., Jozsef E., Istvan S. and Ioan S. are being incriminated for complicity to smuggling and fiscal evasion. Arnold Nicolae E. is being incriminated for complicity to smuggling also. The investigations are in process, being informed the Ukrainian authorities about this event.

False identity card detected at Petea


A young man, Romanian citizen, living in Dolj County, is incriminated by Border Police officers for identifying himself with a false identity card at the entrance to Romania.
Tuesday, 25.10.2011, at about 21.00 hours, at Petea Border Crossing Point came in order to enter Romania, a young man presenting for passport control an identity card on the name of Razvan M., from Dolj County. On the occasion of entry Romania formalities, Border Police officers who checked the travel document concluded that it is not a genuine one.
Following the thorough check was established the fact that the person who came at the entrance is Marius I, from Segarcea town, Dolj County. He stated that the data included in the falsified document belong to his brother and that, while being in Spain, he had lost his own identity card, meeting later on, in the same country, a Romanian citizen who gave him the aforementioned document, presented to Border authorities.
Now, Marius I., is being incriminated for the offence of false usage, misusage of the document, complicity to falsifying official documents and attempt of illegal border crossing.

Cigarettes capture at the border


Romanian Border Police officers within Caras Severin Border Police County Inspectorate detected a Romanian citizen carrying 7,000 packages of smuggled cigarettes.
On 25.10.2011, starting with 14.00 hours, based on data and information of Naidas Border Police Sector, Border Police officers initiated a specific action in the filed of countering cigarettes smuggling.
At about 18.45 hours, with the help of video surveillance system was detected a mean of transportation close to border line, its presence there not being justified.
The Border Police patrol within that area was informed and at about 200 meters away from Rusova Noua, the vehicle was intercepted on an agricultural road.
The Ford Mondeo vehicle was inspected. Due to the fact that inside were detected several big boxes, an operational team was requested, finding inside a big number of packages of cigarettes: 4,500 packages of FAST cigarettes, Serbian made and 2,500 packages of MARBLE cigarettes, with no stamps.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of smuggling and fiscal evasion were drawn by Border Police officers.
The amount of cigarettes, valuing about 70,000 LEI, was seized by Border Police officers.
The Ford Mondeo vehicle, valuing about 12,000 LEI, was seized also on the premises of Caras Severin Border Police County Inspectorate up to the finalization of the investigations.

Smuggling network stopped at Botosani


Following an informative-operational activity, carried out for a period of four months, D.I.I.C.O.T. prosecutor - Botosani Territorial Bureau, in cooperation with officers within Botosani Border Police County Inspectorate, technically and operationally supported by officers within D.G.I.P.I. and by Botosani National Police County Inspectorate, Botosani Countering Organized Crime Service and Botosani Gendarmerie County Inspectorate initiated on 25.10.2011 an action in order to catch into act a criminal network specialized in Moldavian cigarettes smuggling, acting in Botosani County.
Out of the information gathered by D.G.I.P.I. and Border Police officers, resulted that the criminal group consists of Moldovans and Romanians with well determined roles within the group receiving the cigarettes, surveying the roads, transporting, storage and selling of the goods, in order to get benefits out of it.
On the occasion of this action, from close to Prut River, border area and following the 28 house searches, 10.500 packages of cigarettes, money, two vehicles and different goods, part of the criminal activity, were seized.
The house searches were also in regards to two Border Police officers within Romanesti Border Police Sector.
The investigations are ongoing, under the leadership of D.I.I.C.O.T. prosecutor together with officers within Botosani Border Police County Inspectorate.

Seven illegal migrants apprehended at the border


In the last 24 hours, seven people trying to illegally enter our country were apprehended by Romanian Border Police within responsibility area of Lunga Border Police Sector. In all the cases prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers.
Border Police patrol within Lunga Border Police Sector detected in the responsibility area two groups of illegal migrants consisting of seven people, originally from Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.
Due to the fact that they spoke no Romanian and had no identity documents, were led on the premises of Border Police Sector, in order to sort out the situation.
On this occasion was established the fact that five of them are Algerians, one from Morocco and one Tunisian with ages from 18 to 34 years old, who illegally crossed the Serbian Romanian border.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers, following to be taken the legal imposed measures.

Thirty one migrants apprehended at the Romanian-Serbian border


At the end of this week, Romanian Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate detected several groups of migrants trying to illegally enter Romanian.
From 22 to 23.10.2011, Border Police officers continued carrying out the specific actions in the field of countering illegal migration within the responsibility area of Timis Border Police County Inspectorate.
Border Police officers within Lunga, Moravita and Beba Veche Border Police Sectors detected, with the help of night vision equipment several groups of illegal migrants walking over the field from Serbia towards Romania. Immediately a specific action for apprehending and leading the people on the premises of Border Police Sectors in order to sort out the situation was initiated.
Out of the preliminary investigations the fact that the 31 detected people were citizens of Pakistan, Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt resulted.
As a result of the investigation, in regards to the aforementioned people were taken the legal measures. Also were informed the Serbian Border Authorities based on Serbian Romanian Agreement and the above mentioned people were handed over to the neighboring authorities for taking the legal measures.

Video: Fourty one illegal migrants apprehended at the Romanian border

Fourty one illegal migrants apprehended at the Romanian border


Last night, during a complex action in the field of countering illegal migration, Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate detected several groups of illegal migrants, consisting of 41 people trying to illegally enter Romania. This week, Border Police officers detected 113 African migrants whom illegally crossed the Serbian border.
Last night, at about 20.00 hours, Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate, Jimbolia and Lunga Border Police Sectors detected with the help of night vision equipment several groups of migrants walking from Serbia towards Romania, over the filed. A specific action in order to apprehend and lead the aforementioned people on the premises of the Border Police Sectors was initiated immediately.
In this specific action were involved Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate, Jimbolia and Lunga, Border Police Sectors. Also, in order to apprehend one of the migrants’ groups, Border Police officers had to use the weapons and ammunition, warning them by shooting vertically, in accordance with law provisions.
Out of the preliminary investigations the fact that the 41 migrants were from Algeria, Morocco and Pakistan resulted.
Serbian Border Police authorities were contacted and the aforementioned people were handed over to Serbian Border Police authorities, in order to take the imposed legal measures, based on Romanian-Serbian Agreement.
This week, Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate detected 113 migrants from Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya, etc. whom illegally crossed the Serbian border in order to enter illegally Romania.

Romanian Border Police, active participant of the fight against illegal migration


A Romanian Border Police delegation, leaded by the General Inspector, Mr. IOAN BUDA, participated in Spain, in the sixth Euro-African Police Conference regarding the illegal migration.
From 18th to 20th of October 2011 took place the sixth Euro-African Police Conference regarding the illegal migration.
Within this reunion, Romania was represented by a Romanian Border Police delegation, leaded by the General Inspector, Mr. IOAN BUDA and consisting of officers specialized in preventing and countering the illegal migration.
The conference addressed to representatives of the highest level within Gendarmerie and Police of each state with responsibilities in the field of countering illegal migration, within Europe and Africa, and to representatives of European and international organizations.
The main objective of the conference was to improve the cooperation and dialog between law enforcement structures with responsibilities in the field of countering illegal migration.
During the conference, topics as current situation, tendencies and perspectives of illegal migration within the Eastern and Western Mediterranean area, Atlantic area and Sub-Saharan African area were approached.
Based on African instability, the impact of the migration on Europe was analyzed and projects and proposals in the field of E.U. cooperation with this state regarding the illegal migration were launched.
Also, the Spanish support towards Africa was analyzed from the global point of view, and under the coordination of EUROPOL, information exchange in regards to illegal migration and the fight against organized crime networks were approached.
Operational cooperation of FRONTEX Agency, European agency for the operational cooperation management at the E.U. external borders in the field of illegal migration was introduced.
Participating in this activity, was a real opportunity for strengthening the relations with the authorities of the states involved in the fight against illegal migration, in order to exchange information and data in a effective way.

Thirty two illegal migrants stopped at the Romanian border


In the last 48 hours, Border Police officers detected and apprehended 32 people of various nationalities, trying to illegally cross the state border for entering Romania.
In all the cases, prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers.
  • In the last 24 hours, Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate, Lunga, Jimbolia and Moravita Border Police Sectors apprehended in the responsibility area seven groups of migrants consisting of 28 men, citizens of Alger, Tunisia, Morocco and Libya.
    The detected people spoke no Romanian and had no identity documents. Border Police officers led the aforementioned people on the premises of Border Police Sectors in order to sort out the situation. On this occasion was established the fact that 20 of them are citizens of Algeria, 4 from Morocco, 2 from Tunisia and 2 from Libya with ages from 20 to 36 years old, which illegally crossed the Serbian- Romanian border by walking in order to enter Romania.
    During the investigation, the aforementioned people stated that they had acted this way due to the fact that they wanted to reach Schengen area and had no visas for that.
  • On 18.10.2011, at about 21.20 hours, Border Police officers within Raducaneni Border Police Sector, Iasi County, while carrying out a specific mission using the optical recognition system, detected two people walking on the left side of the Jijia River.
    A Border Police patrol within Raducaneni Border Police Sector went there shortly in order to identify, apprehend and lead the people on the premises of Border Police Sector in order to sort out the situation.
    Out of the investigations and the migrants’ statements resulted that they are citizens of Republic of Moldova: B. Victor and C. Adrian,, with ages of 23 and 24 years old and that they have crossed the Prut River with the help of floatable boats, intending to reach Italy, for getting a job there. Inside their luggage two flashlights, two maps (Romania-Italy route) and several personal objects were found.
    The Border event was investigated in cooperation with Border authorities within Republic of Moldova.
  • Also Border Police officers within Husi Border Police Sector, Vaslui County, detected on 19.10.2011, around 21.30 hours, with the help of optical recognition system, two men who reached Romanian territory after swimming in Prut River from Republic of Moldova towards Romania. The intervention Border Police team within Husi Border Police Sector apprehended and led the people on the premises of Border Police Sector in order to sort out the situation.
    Out of the investigations and the migrants’ statements resulted that they are citizens of Russian Federation and intended to reach Romania in order to get a job.
    Also this Border event was investigated in cooperation with Border authorities within Republic of Moldova.
In all the cases, prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers, at the end of the investigation being taken the imposed legal measures.

In ultimele 24 de ore, in zonele de competenta - punctele de trecere si "frontiera verde" - politistii de frontiera au constatat:
  • 78 fapte ilegale (28 infractiuni si 50 contraventii) savarsite, atat de cetateni romani, cat si straini;
  • valoarea amenzilor contraventionale aplicate se ridica la 19.500 lei;
  • au fost descoperite, independent sau in colaborare cu alte institutii, bunuri nedeclarate (ce urmau a fi introduse ilegal in tara), care depaseau plafonul vamal admis ori suspecte a fi contrafacute, in valoare totala de aproximativ 841.000 lei;
  • traficul de persoane si mijloace de transport prin punctele de trecere a fost de aproximativ 91.100 treceri persoane, atat pe sensul de intrare cat si pe cel de iesire din tara si de peste 27.900 treceri mijloace de transport.
    Nu s-a permis intrarea in tara unui numar de 10 cetateni straini, care nu indeplineau conditiile prevazute de lege si de asemenea, nu s-a permis iesirea din Romania unui numar de 58 cetateni romani si 1 cetatean strain din diferite motive legale.

Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours


In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
  • 37 illegal deeds (15 crimes and 22 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 4,300 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 182,900 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 92,700 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 25,200 means of transportation.
