Ten Afghani illegal migrants and four Bulgarian facilitators detected at the Romanian border


Border Police officers within Constanta County Border Police Inspectorate detected, in three vehicles, ten citizens of Afghan (6 men, 2 women and 2 children), who, with the help of 4 Bulgarian citizens, intended to illegally reach Germany.
On 25.06.2011, based on some information, Border Police officers within Ostrov Border Police Sector, launched a specific action in the field of countering illegal migration within the competency area.
Thus, at about 04.00 hours, at the end of Ostrov locality, three vehicles registered in Bulgaria, driven by two citizens of Bulgaria M.N. 24 years old and H.N. 49 years old, were stopped.
On the occasion of thoroughly checking the means of transportation, Border Police officers detected 11 people, nine adults and two children, who had no identity documents.
Out of the investigation resulted that one of the people is Bulgarian, G.S. 43 years old, and the other ten, six men, two women and two underage, are citizens of Afghan, with ages between 5 and 31 years old.
Following the investigation was established the fact that they have illegally crossed the border, by walking, guided by the Bulgarian citizen G.S., walking afterwards towards Ostrov. Here they were waited by other Bulgarians with three vehicles who entered legally Romania through Ostrov Border Crossing Point three hours before.
Based on their statement, the Bulgarians intended to guide and transport the illegal migrants to Germany.
Based on facts, prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of people smuggling were drawn by Border Police officers on the name of the drivers, of people smuggling and illegal state border crossing on the name of the Bulgarian citizen G.S. and of illegal state border crossing on the name of the migrants.
The criminal record is going to be presented to the Medgidia Court Prosecutor’s Office and the ten Afghani illegal migrants are going to be handed over to the border Bulgarian authorities, based on the cooperation protocol between the two institutions.
