Smugglers apprehended at the Romanian-Ukrainian border

Romanian Border Police officers within Suceava County detected and apprehended two Romanian citizens trying to illegally bring into Romania 10,000 packages of smuggling cigarettes.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of smuggling and illegal state border crossing were drawn by Border Police officers.
The whole amount of cigarettes, valuing about 90,000 LEI was seized by Border Police officers within Suceava County.

Border Police officers within Vaslui County detected 820 packages of smuggled cigarettes hidden in the trunk of a Dacia Super Nova car which was stopped in traffic for control. The driver and the passenger were left without cigarettes but with criminal files on their names for smuggling.

Border Police officers within Sculeni Border Crossing Point incriminated a man for presenting to Border Police authorities a forged registration certificate for the BMW driven by him.

Falsified driving license detected at the border

Border Police officers within Arad County detected a Romanian citizen, male, 27 years old, driving a Peugeot registered in Italy who presented to border authorities a falsified driving license.
The man stated that he received the driving license from an unknown person for 2000 LEI and that he acted this way due to the lack of a genuine driving license.
Border Police officers stopped the man’s journey and drawn on his name prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of driving a car without driving license, of complicity to material forgery in regards to official documents and of usage of a forged document, following at the end of the investigations to be taken the imposed legal measures.

Border Police officers within Bechet Border Crossing Point in cooperation with custom officers within Bechet Custom Bureau detected on 08.01.2012, at the entry flow, two trucks registered in Greece, coming from Greece and going to Belgium, carrying about 9.000 sport shoes possible counterfeited.

Border Police officers acted in accordance with the law, assessing the goods.

Cigarettes smuggled in a bus

Border Police officers within Botosani County detected yesterday, 09.01.2012, 2.360 cigarettes hidden in a woman’s luggage. The cigarettes were made in Republic of Moldova and were about to be sold on a market from Botosani County.
The cigarettes were seized by Border Police officers and on the name of the two women was imposed a fine of 3.000 LEI.

False registration certificate detected at Agigea

Border Police officers within Constanta Group of Vessels- Agigea Border Crossing Point detected a man driving an Opel registered in Bulgaria; the registration certificate was a falsified one.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of falsification and usage of a false document were drawn by Border Police officers.

Monofilament net hidden in a trunk

On 11.09.2011, Border Police officers within Constanta Border Police Territorial Service, while fulfilling daily tasks, detected a man selling monofilament fishing net.
The fishing net, 60 meters long, was sized and on person’s name prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of producing, importing, owning, selling or using monofilament fishing tools were drawna by Border Police officers.

Undeclared cigarettes detected on a vessel

On 11.09.2012, around 17.00 hours, Border Police officers within Constanta Group of Vessels detected on a vessel registered in Republic of Moldova moored in Constanta Harbor 4.200 cigarettes hidden and undeclared to respective authorities.
The whole amount of cigarettes, valuing 2.100 LEI was seized by Border Police officers and handed over to custom authorities, who imposed a fine of 5.000 LEI.

Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours


In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
  • 50 illegal deeds (16 crimes and 34 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 13,400 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 3,320,000 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 93,700 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 23,900 means of transportation.

    15 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and 16 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.
