Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours
In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
- 92 illegal deeds (34 crimes and 58 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
- the amount of penalties reaches approximately 16,000 lei;
- undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 211,000 lei, were detected;
- the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 120,000 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 30,900 means of transportation.
9 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and 55 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.
Four Ukrainian citizens apprehended for smuggling
Romanian Border Police officers within Maramures County seized 3,000 packages of cigarettes made in Ukraine, valuing 26,000 LEI. The packs were crossed over the Tisa River with a inflatable boat.
Yesterday, on 07.09.2011, around 22.00 hours, Border Police officers within Sighet Border Police Sector detected a group of people illegally crossing the Ukrainian-Romanian border, through the waters of Tisa Rivers with an inflatable boat.
Reaching the Romanian territory, the suspects started to get off the boat several big boxes.
At that moment, Border Police officers apprehended the people, but due to the fact the suspects did not obey the verbal requests, the law enforcement had to use the weapons and ammunition, being shot once in vertical plan.
As a result, four Ukrainian citizens, Sviatoslav B., 21 years old, Taras I., 20 years old, Andrii T., 18 years old and Iaroslav S., 22 years old were apprehended.
After searching the perimeter were detected 6 boxes containing 3,000 packages of cigarettes coming from Ukrain, valuing about 26,000 LEI and also inflatable boat.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of smuggling and illegal state border crossing and the whole amount of cigarettes and the inflatable boat were seized.
Criminal record for poaching
Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate detected a baby deer shot and two men carrying a hunting rifle.
Yesterday, at about 15.00 hours, a Border Police patrol carrying out tasks in the area of responsibility, noticed gunfire in Pustinis.
A specific action was initiated, having as results the detection of two males, with no identity documents. The males were carrying a hunting rifle SKB brand, 16 mm. caliber, kept in a holster.
Following the investigation was established that the two men are Romanians, 53 and 63 years old, living in Timis County. After searching the area, at about 1 km. away from the apprehending area, were found, thrown in a channel, three hunting tubes, 16 mm caliber and a shot baby deer, weighting around 30 kilos.
The aforementioned people stated that they were present there, in that area in order to check the filed and that they had nothing to do with the death animal.
The seized goods and the shot baby deer were handed over to representatives of Timis County Police Inspectorate and the investigations are in process under the coordination of Weapons, Explosives and Dangerous Substances Service.
