Fifteen illegal migrants detected at the Romanian border
In the last 24 hours, Romanian Border Police officers detected and apprehended 15 people, Afro-Asians trying to illegally cross the border in order to reach Schengen area.
- This morning, a Border Police surveillance patrol within Nadlac Border Police Sector, Arad County, detected four male, walking towards Hungary.
Due to the fact that their presence there was unjustified, the aforementioned people were apprehended at about 20 meters inside from the border line, in Nadlac and leaded on the premises of the Nadlac Border Police Sector for further investigation.
Following the investigation was established the fact that they are citizens of Alger, Morocco and Tunisia, with ages between 20 and 31 intending to illegally reach Schengen area. They stated that took a TAXI to Nadlac from where they walked over the field till they were apprehended. They’ve acted this way because they had no Schengen visa.
Border Police officers interrupted their journey and prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing were drawn on their names, at the end of the investigation legal imposed measures being taken. - On 06.07.2011, Border Police officers within Moldova Veche Border Police Sector, Caras Severin County initiated an action focused on countering illegal migration in cooperation with police officers within National Police from Moldova Noua.
Thus, at about 19.30 hours, were detected two men walking on the road from Moldova Noua to Moldova Veche. They did not speak Romanian language and did not have any identity documents.
The aforementioned people were leaded on the premises of the Moldova Veche Border Police Sector for further investigation. Out of the investigations and their statements resulted that one of them is Liberian, 25 years old and the other one is Iranian, 36 years old. They tried to enter illegally Romania from Serbia. - Also, Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate detected in the competency area two groups of illegal migrants.
This morning, at about 07.20 hours, Border Police officers within Lunga Border Police Sector detected in Gottlob, six men who spoke nu Romanian and had no identity documents. The aforementioned people were leaded on the premises of the Lunga Border Police Sector for further investigation.
On this occasion was established the fact that they are citizens of Libya, Palestine, Tunisia and Morocco with ages between 22 and 30 years old who illegally crossed the Romanian-Serbian border. - Yesterday, at about 18.30 hours, in the competency area of Lunga Border Police Sector, Border Police officers detected three men, who spoke no Romanian and had no identity documents, at about 300 meters away from the border line with Serbia.
The aforementioned people were leaded on the premises of the Lunga Border Police Sector for further investigation.
On this occasion was established the fact that they are citizens of Alger with ages between 21 and 29 years old who illegally crossed the Romanian- Serbian border.
On the names of those people prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing were drawn by border police officers, at the end of the investigation legal imposed measures being taken.
The aforementioned people requested one of the international protection forms from Romania, thus the competent structure, ORI (Romanian Immigration Office) from Timisoara was contacted for specific procedures.
Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours
In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
- 41 illegal deeds (17 crimes and 24 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
- the amount of penalties reaches approximately 6,800 lei;
- undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 106,200 lei, were detected;
- the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 116,000 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 32,100 means of transportation.
15 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and 101 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.
