Synthesis of the events at the border in the last 24 hours


On 24.01.2012, Romanian Border Police carried out specific activities within the area of responsibility in regards to state border surveillance and checks, counter and prevent illegal migration and cross border criminality. The main events were as follows:
Romanian - Ukrainian border:
Smuggled cigarettes detected
   Romanian Border Police officers within Valea Viseului Border Police Sector, Maramures County, detected at about 3 km. away from the border line, 1,400 meters high, 4,270 packages of cigarettes made in Ukraine, valuing about 38,000 LEI. The cigarettes were illegally brought into Romania by two men.

Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of smuggling and other crimes in regards to goods were drawn by Border Police officers and the whole amount of cigarettes was seized.

Romanian - Moldovan border:
BMW stolen from Italy detected at Albita Border Crossing Point
Romanian Border Police officers within Albita Border Crossing Point, Vaslui County, detected a Romanian citizen, 30 years old, driving a BMW 120 D, stolen from Italy on 18th of January 2012.

Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of theft were drawn by Border Police officers and the car was seized.

Coast Guard:

A sword detected in a vehicle
Romanian Border Police officers within Negru Voda Border Crossing Point, Constanta County, detected a Romanian citizen, 33 years old, living in Medgidia, intending to illegally bring into our country a 70 cm. long sword.

Border Police officers took all the imposed legal measures.

Illegal fishing at the border
Romanian Border Police officers within Pardina Border Police Sector, Tulcea County detected, two Romanian citizens fishing by using fishing nets forbidden by law.
The nets, 160 m. long, were seized.
Prior acts of criminal investigation were drawn by Border Police officers on the names of the aforementioned people.

Romanian - Serbian border:

Romanian citizen living in Resita, facilitator in Czech Republic
   Romanian Border Police officers within Mehedinti Border Police Territorial Service, together with officers within D.G.I.P.I. - S.I.P.I. Mehedinti County coordinated by D.I.I.C.O.T. prosecutor within Mehedinti Territorial Bureau gathered thorough information between August 2011 - January 2012 in regards to a Romanian national from Resita, in regards to his activity of trafficking from Romania to Greece over 70 people living in Mehedinti and Caras Severin county.
At the end of the previous week, M. Marian, 27 years old was arrested for trafficking in human beings.

Six illegal migrants detected at the border
   Romanian Border Police officers within Lunga Border Police Sector, Timis County detected within the area of responsibility, two groups of illegal migrants consisting of six people, males, with ages from 21 to 31 years old.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of illegal state border crossing were drawn by Border Police officers, following at the end of the investigation to be taken all the imposed legal measures.

Romanian - Bulgarian border:

Unregistered BMW
Romanian Border Police officers within Bistret Border Police Sector detected in the area of responsibility a Romanian citizen driving a BMW unregistered.

Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of driving a car without being registered were drawn by Border Police officers.

Unregistered Ford
Romanian Border Police officers within Calarasi Border Police Sector detected in traffic a Ford, driven by a Romanian citizen, without being registered.

As a result of the investigations was establish the fact that the vehicle was registered up to 14.01.2012, on the name of Victor G., 42 years old.

Border Police officers took all the imposed legal measures, seizing the registration plates.

Stollen metal
Romanian Border Police officers within Turnu Magurele Border Police Sector, Teleorman County, detected three men, carrying with the help of horses, metal parts of a irrigation system belonging to a company.

The metal parts were given back to the owner, Border Police officers taking all the imposed legal measures.

Romanian - Hungarian border:

1,000 packages of Ukraine made cigarettes hidden in a car coming from Hungary
   Two people from Satu Mare county, a mother and her sun, are incriminate for smuggling and other crimes in regards to goods, their storage and sale.
They were detected by Romanian Border Police officers within Petea Border Crossing Point, Satu Mare County while trying to illegally bring into Romania, from Hungary, 1,000 packages of cigarettes, Jin Ling brand, made in Ukraine.
The cigarettes were hidden under the front seats. The cigarettes and the vehicle were seized for further investigations.

He identified himself with a falsified document
Romanian Border Police officers within Turnu Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Syrian trying to illegally cross Romanian-Hungarian border by using a falsified Bulgarian identity card.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of usage of a false document and of attempt to illegal state border crossing were drawn by Border Police officers, interrupting the person’s journey.

Falsified attorney empowerment detected by Romanian Border Police officers
Romanian Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a woman, Romanian citizen, trying to illegally cross over the border an underage person with the help of a falsified attorney empowerment.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of usage of a false document were drawn by Border Police officers, following at the end of the investigation to be taken all the imposed legal measures.

Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours


In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
  • 33 illegal deeds (13 crimes and 20 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 3,600 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 10,200 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 76,100 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 24,000 means of transportation.
    4 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and 18 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.
