Migrants apprehended at the Romanian border


At the end of this week, Romanian Border Police officers within Timis Border Police County Inspectorate detected 10 people trying to illegally cross the Romanian "green border". In all the cases prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing or attempt of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers.
Border Police officers within Lunga, Jimbolia and Sannicolau Mare Border Police Sectors detected, in the area of responsibility, three groups of illegal migrants of various nationalities.The detected people had no identity documents and spoke no Romanian. This determined Border Police officers to lead the people on the premises of Border Police Sectors, in order to sort out the situation. On this occasion, was established the fact that four of theme are citizens of Alger, two of Tunisia and four of Morocco, with ages from 20 to 34 years old who illegally crossed the Serbian-Romanian border trying to reach Hungary.
While being interviewed, the illegal migrants asked for asylum in Romania. The aforementioned people stated that they have used this method due to the fact that they wanted to reach Schengen area but had no visas.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of state border illegal crossing or attempt of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers, following, at the end of the investigation to be taken all the imposed legal measures.

Migrants apprehended by Border Police officers within Satu Mare Border Police County Inspectorate


In the last 24 hours, Border Police officers within Satu Mare Border Police County Inspectorate apprehended two groups of illegal migrants consisting of 6 people trying to illegally cross the Romania-Hungarian border.
  • On 04.09.2011, at about 01.00 hours, as a result of an operation coordinated by Border Police officers within Petea Border Police Sector, in the field of countering illegal migrants, by using thermal vision equipment, a group of 4 people was detected walking towards Romanian-Hungarian border. After being apprehended, was established the fact that they are citizens of Iran, with ages from 28 to 30 years old.
    As a result of the investigation, was established the fact that they had no travel documents; also they were carrying an inflatable boat in order to use it for crossing the channels from the area.
    The aforementioned people stated that they have searched the internet in order to get information about the area and ways of crossing this border. Thus, on the evening of 3rd of September, they took the train, went to Satu Mare and afterward walked, in the night, towards the border in order to illegally cross from Romania to Hungary, the final destination being Germany.
  • On the morning of 4th of September 2011, at about 09.00 hours, Border Police officers within Petea Border Police Sector in cooperation with Dorolt Police Station, apprehended on the right side of the river Somes, at about 500 meters away from the border line, two citizens of Morocco, with ages of 21 to 25 years old, intending to cross the Romanian-Hungarian border.
In both cases, investigations in regards to attempting to illegally cross the state border are in process.

Eleven migrants apprehended by Border Police officers within Arad Border Police County Inspectorate at the end of this week


Border Police officers within Arad Border Police County Inspectorate detected and apprehended 11 people trying to illegally cross the Romania-Hungarian border in order to reach Schengen area.
The migrants are citizens of Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco.
On the names of those prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of attempt of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers.
  • Thus, on 04.09.2011, at about 00.15 hours, a patrol of Romanian Border Police within Nadlac Border Police Sector detected by using the thermal vision equipment, a group of illegal migrants consisting of nine people, males, walking towards Hungary. They were apprehended at about 100 meters inside Romanian territory, on the edge of Nadlac.
    The detected people had no identity documents and spoke no Romanian. This determined Border Police officers to lead the people on the premises of Border Police Sectors, in order to sort out the situation.
    As a result of the investigation, was established the fact that five of theme are citizens of Alger, with ages from 21 to 41 years old, three of Tunisia with ages from 21 to 25 years old and one of Morocco, 54 years old who intended to reach France.
    They have stated that they acted this way due to the fact that they were not in a possession of Schengen visas.
  • On 02.09.2011, at about 19.15 hours, a patrol of Romanian Border Police within Nadlac Border Police Sector detected by using their equipment, two illegal migrants, males, walking towards Hungary.
    The aforementioned people were apprehended at about 20 meters inside Romanian territory, on the edge of Nadlac.
    As a result of the investigation, was established the fact that they are citizens of Alger, with ages of 21 and 28 years old, intending to reach France.
    They have stated that they took a TAXI to Nadlac from where they walked till they were apprehended.
On the names of the eleven people, prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of attempt of state border illegal crossing were drawn by Border Police officers within Arad Border Police County Inspectorate, following, at the end of the investigation to be taken all the imposed legal measures.

Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours


In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
  • 60 illegal deeds (9 crimes and 51 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 7,900 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 3,500 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 132,000 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 31,800 means of transportation.
    10 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and 22 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.
