Cigarettes and a car seized at Galati Border Crossing Point

Romanian Border Police officers within Galati Road Border Crossing Point, Galati County, together with custom’s officers detected 7,200 undeclared cigarettes hidden inside a car driven by a citizen of Republic of Moldova, in special amended places.
Custom officers seized the cigarettes and imposed a fine of 7,000 LEI to the aforementioned person.
Romanian Border Police officers cancelled his travel document.

Romanian Border Police officers within Oancea land Border Crossing Point, Galati County together with custom’s officers detected 8,560 undeclared cigarettes hidden on the bodies of two women and inside a car.

Romanian Border Police officers within Jimbolia Border Crossing Point, Timis County, detected a Serbian citizen, 30 years old, trying to enter Romania by driving a VW Polo, stolen from France last year.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of hiding information in regards to a theft were drawn by Border Police officers and the car was seized.

Four Tunisians detected at the Romanian border

Romanian Border Police officers within Lunga Border Police Sector, Timis County detected, within the area of responsibility, four Tunisians, with ages from 21 to 26 years old.

Possible counterfeit perfumes detected at Giurgiu

Romanian Border Police officers within Giurgiu Border Crossing Point detected in a bus coming from Istanbul to Bucharest, 135 possible not genuine bottles of perfume, belonging to a Romanian.

International wanted person for stilling stopped at the border for stilling

Romanian Border Police officers within Turnu Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Romanian, 27 years old, trying to exit. He was international wanted for being involved in a theft.
Romanian Border Police officers interrupted the person’s journey.

Underage person hidden in a car

 Romanian Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Romanian woman, underage, 17 years old, hidden in the back of a car, trying to illegally exit Romania in order to reach her parents in France.
Law enforcement officers took all the imposed legal measures in regards to the underage person and the driver.

Within the last 24 hours Romanian Border Police carried out specific activities within the area of responsibility in regards to state border surveillance and checks, counter and prevent illegal migration and cross border criminality. The main events were as follows:


Criminal file for smuggling
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of smuggling were drawn by Romanian Border Police officers within Albita Border Crosing Point, Vaslui County on the name of a Romanian woman, whom tried twice in a month to bring into Romania cigarettes from Republic of Moldova.

The cigarettes, valuing about 346 lei, were seized by Border Police officers.
Goods for sale without justifiable documents
Romanian Border Police officers within Falciu Border Police Sector, Vaslui County, were fined 6,000 lei each company who carried goods for sale without justifiable documents, in accordance with the law.
Coffee seized at Romanesti
Romanian Border Police officers within Romanesti Border Police Sector, Botosani County detected inside a car belonging to a Romanian, 30.6 kilos of coffee, in order to be sold. The coffe valuing about 530 lei was seized and the owner was imposed a fine of 1,000 lei.

Illegal fishing
Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard carried out several activities for countering and preventing illegal fishing within the responsibility area, seizing 436 kilos of fish, 73 monofilament nets 4,209 meters long, a boat and an engine of a boat.

Seven Algerians detected at the border
   Romanian Border Police officers within Lunga Border Police Sector, Timis County, detected seven Algerians with ages from 19 to 38 years old, intending to illegally cross Serbian - Romanian border.

VW Golf pushed up to Nadlac
On 24.01.2012, Romanian Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Bulgarian pushing VW Golf in order to pass border check as he had no driving license. The vehicle was stated as stolen from Germany on 23.01.2012.

All the imposed legal measures were taken by Border police officers.

9.18 Kilos of tobacco seized at the border
On 24.01.2012, Romanian Border Police officers within Varsand Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Romanian trying to illegally bring into Romania 9.18 Kilos of tobacco.

Vehicle with falsified registration documents
Romanian Border Police officers within Turnu Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Romanian driving a vehicle using falsified registration documents.

Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours


In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
  • 49 illegal deeds (24 crimes and 25 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 19,800 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of  375,000 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 76,300 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 25,700 means of transportation.
    8 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and 20 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.
