32,000 packages of cigarettes seizes by Border Police officers within Botosani County Border Police Inspectorate

Border Police officers within Botosani County Border Police Inspectorate detected two Romanian citizens transporting in a vehicle over 32,000 packages of cigarettes, with a Republic of Moldova stamp.
Border Police officers sized all the goods, frozen the vehicle and drawn prior acts of criminal investigation on the offence of smuggling goods and fiscal evasion.

On 28.06.2011, at about 01.30 hours, a Border Police patrol consisting of border police officers within Stanca Border Police Sector, carrying out activities within specific action organized by D.G.I.P.I., stopped in Mitoc a Ford Transit vehicle, registered in Romania, driven by Romanian citizen George B, 23 years old.

On the occasion of thoroughly checking the mean of transportation, Border Police officers detected bulky packages, wrapped in bags, full of cigarettes packages. There were 31.730 packages of cigarettes, Plugaru, Monte Carlo and Winston brands, with a Republic of Moldova stamp. The aforementioned person stated that he got the cigarettes in Mitoc from several people and intended to sell them in Saveni. In order to transport them, George B. was supposed to be helped by an accomplice, Ioan B., 42 years old, the owner of the vehicle.

The cigarettes, valuing 280,000 lei, were seized by Border Police officers and the vehicle was frozen on the premises of Stanca Border Police Sector.

Prior acts of criminal investigation on the offence of smuggling goods and fiscal evasion were drawn by Border Police officers, the criminal record going to be presented to the Saveni Court Prosecutor’s Office.

Based on facts, Saveni Court Prosecutor’s Office forbidden to George B. to leave his residence for 30 days, to contact Ioan B and to drive any vehicle.

Five people detected while attempting to illegally cross the green border

Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Police Sector apprehended five people from Algeria and Tunisia who intended to illegally reach the Schengen area.

Yesterday and last night, two border police surveillance patrols within Nadlac Border Police Sector detected two groups consisting of five men, walking towards Hungary.

The aforementioned people were apprehended at about 100 meters inside from the neighboring territory, at the West side of Nadlac.

Following the investigation was established the fact the two are citizens of Afghan and Tunisia with ages between 24 and 37 intending to reach Schengen area. The aforementioned people stated that they took the train from Timisoara to Arad from where they went by car up to Nadlac, from where they walked over the field till they were apprehended. They acted this way due to the fact that they had no visa for Schengen area.

Border Police officers interrupted their trip and drawn prior acts of criminal investigation on the offence of attempt for illegally cross the state border, following at the end of the investigation to take the imposed legal measures.

Within only two days Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Police Sector detected 10 people attempting to illegally cross the green border.
