About 14,000 packages of smuggled cigarettes detected at the border


Romanian Border Police officers within Suceava Border Police County Inspectorate detected in the area of responsibility about 14,000 packages of smuggled cigarettes, valuing about 125,000 LEI, made in Republic of Moldova, which were about to be sold on the black market.
Based on data and information, regarding the smuggling activities carried out in the area of responsibility of Brodina Border Police Sector, Border Police officers took the necessary specific surveillance and control measures of the area for a thorough surveillance of the border.
Thus, on 06.09.2011, Border Police officers within Brodina Border Police Sector detected, near the border, close to Straja, a person, male, and several big packages wrapped in black plastic foil.
Following preliminary investigations, was established the fact that the name of the aforementioned person is P. Vasile, 28 years old, living in Straja, Suceava County.
Also, after counting the cigarettes the number of 13,820 packs of Doina cigarettes, made in Republic of Moldova resulted.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of smuggling were drawn by Border Police officers, following to be sent to Prosecutor’s office within Radauti Court.
The amount of cigarettes, valuing about 125,000 LEI, was seized by Border Police officers within Suceava Border Police County Inspectorate.
