Cigarettes seized and criminal file for smuggling

Romanian Border Police officers within Galati land Border Crossing Point, Iasi County a citizen of Romania and also of Republic of Moldova (double citizenship) trying to illegally bring into Romania, hidden inside his car, 43.000 cigarettes made in Republic of Moldova.
The cigarettes, valuing about 7.000 LEI and the vehicle were seized. 



Toyota Land Cruiser haunted by German police, detected at Oancea

Romanian Border Police officers within Oancea Border Crossing Point, Galati County, detected a man, German citizen driving a Toyota Land Cruiser, declared stolen in Germany. The vehicle values about 434.000 LEI and was seized by Border police officers. 

Romanian tourists rescued on Bulgarian territory

This morning, around 04.30 hours, a bus carrying tourists from Turkey to Romania was stuck in the snow on Bulgaria’s territory, at about 200 meters away from Vama Veche Border Crossing Point. Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard together with Bulgarian border authorities acted in order to clear the road.
Thus, at 10.15, all 19 passengers arrived safely at Vama Veche Border Crossing Point.
Romanian Border Police officers took all the necessary measures for the passengers to reach as soon as possible their final destination.

Border Police officers within Giurgiu Border Crossing Point detected a Romanian citizen who tried to illegally bring into Romania about 200 counterfeit bottles of perfume.
Border Police officers acted in accordance with the law, assessing the goods.

Hidden inside the trunk of a Romanian truck

Romanian Border Police officers within Bors Border Crossing Point, Bihor County detected five men, four Moroccans and one Tunisian trying to illegal cross the Romanian-Hungarian border in order to reach Schenen area. They were hidden inside the trunk of a truck carrying mostly detergents.

Romanian Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a man, 21 years old, citizen of Morocco, trying to illegally exit Romania by using a forged Bulgarian identity card.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of attempt of illegal state border crossing and of forgery were drawn by Border Police officers.

Statistics regarding Romanian Border Police activity in the last 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, in the competence areas - meaning border crossing points and "green border" - Border Police officers detected:
  • 25 illegal deeds (12 crimes and 13 penalties) committed by Romanian and foreign citizens;
  • the amount of penalties reaches approximately 900 lei;
  • undeclared goods (which were to be smuggled into the country), which exceeded the customs’ legal provisions or were suspected as being counterfeit with a total value of 437,100 lei, were detected;
  • the flow of passengers and means of transportation at the border crossing points was about 72,900 people, both at the entry and at the exit and over 21,800 means of transportation.
    13 foreign citizens were refused entry due to the fact that they did not meet the entry requirements and 12 Romanian citizens were not allowed to exit Romania out of various legal grounds.

Romanian Border Police officers within Sculeni Border Crossing Point, Iasi County, together with custom officers, detected three men trying to illegally bring into Romania, hidden under their clothes, 6.800 cigarettes made in Republic of Moldova.
Custom officers seized the cigarettes and the vehicle, imposing a fine of 6.000 Lei. Romanian Border Police officers took all the imposed legal measures, cancelling driver’s travel document.

50 Euros for bribing a Romanian Border Police officer

Romanian Border Police officers within Albita Border Crossing Point, Vaslui County, informed Anticorruption General Directorate- Vaslui County Anticorruption Bureau on a bribery case. Prior acts were drawn by the Anticorruption officers on the name of a man with double citizenship, citizen of Romania and Republic of Moldova, for offering to a Border Police officer 50 Euros in order to exit Romania with a not valid travel document.

Cigarettes left him without a visa

Romanian Border Police officers within Stanca Border Crossing Point, Botosani County, together with custom officers, detected, in vehicle, hidden and undeclared, 2.260 cigarettes made in Republic of Moldova, which a citizen of Republic of Moldova tried to illegally bring them into Romania.
Custom officers seized the cigarettes and the vehicle, imposing a fine of 5.000 Lei. Romanian Border Police officers took all the imposed legal measures, cancelling the visa.

Illegal fishing at Sulina

Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard while carrying out activities for countering and preventing illegal fishing within the responsibility area, detected two people fishing by using illegal nets.
The nets, valuing about 300 Lei, were seized.
All the imposed legal measures were taken by Border police officers.

Iron stolen on Borcea arm

 Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard, Cernavoda Border Police Sector detected a Romanian citizen carrying 250 Kilos of iron stolen from a boat.

Weapon detected inside a car

Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard, Tulcea Border Police Sector detected hidden in a cane, inside a vehicle, driven by a Romanian Citizen and not authorized to be on public roads, a weapon, a blade, about 30 cm long and 1.5 cm width.

Synthesis of the events at the border in the last 24 hours


Within the last 24 hours Romanian Border Police carried out specific activities within the area of responsibility in regards to state border surveillance and checks, counter and prevent illegal migration and cross border criminality. The main events were as follows:



Child from Sulina rescued by Romanian Border Police
On 26.01.2012, at about 18.30 hours, Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard were asked to act in order to save and rescue a child’s life, by transporting him to the hospital with one of their vessels.

The child reached the hospital safely and received the medical help needed.
Counterfeit cosmetics at Agigea
Based on risk analysis a joint team consisting of Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard and custom’s officers checked a container arrived from China, loaded with 10.560 counterfeit cosmetics.

All the imposed legal measures were taken by Border police officers, the cosmetics being seized.


Nine illegal migrants detected at the border
   Romanian Border Police officers within Lunga Border Police Sector, Timis County, detected nine illegal migrants, Algerians and Moroccans, with ages from 19 to 34 years old, intending to illegally cross Serbian - Romanian green border.

Cigarettes and a car seized at Galati Border Crossing Point

Romanian Border Police officers within Galati Road Border Crossing Point, Galati County, together with custom’s officers detected 7,200 undeclared cigarettes hidden inside a car driven by a citizen of Republic of Moldova, in special amended places.
Custom officers seized the cigarettes and imposed a fine of 7,000 LEI to the aforementioned person.
Romanian Border Police officers cancelled his travel document.

Seized cigarettes and criminal file for smuggling

Romanian Border Police officers within Oancea land Border Crossing Point, Galati County together with custom’s officers detected 8,560 undeclared cigarettes hidden on the bodies of two women and inside a car.

Romanian Border Police officers within Vama Veche Border Crossing Point, Constanta County seized from two Romanian citizens 10 illegal fishing nets, 200 meters long and cloths, valuing about 4,020 LEI without justifiable documents. The Romanian citizens were imposed a fine of 1,000 LEI per each.

Criminality on public roads

Romanian Border Police officers within Constanta Border Police Territorial Service while carrying out border surveillance and control activities within the area of responsibility detected a Romanian driving a Kia registered in Bulgaria with falsified registration documents and without driving license.

Stolen VW, detected at Jimbolia

Romanian Border Police officers within Jimbolia Border Crossing Point, Timis County, detected a Serbian citizen, 30 years old, trying to enter Romania by driving a VW Polo, stolen from France last year.
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of hiding information in regards to a theft were drawn by Border Police officers and the car was seized.

Four Tunisians detected at the Romanian border

Romanian Border Police officers within Lunga Border Police Sector, Timis County detected, within the area of responsibility, four Tunisians, with ages from 21 to 26 years old.

Possible counterfeit perfumes detected at Giurgiu

Romanian Border Police officers within Giurgiu Border Crossing Point detected in a bus coming from Istanbul to Bucharest, 135 possible not genuine bottles of perfume, belonging to a Romanian.
The bottles were seized for expertise in order to establish if they are genuine or not and all the imposed legal measures were taken against the Romanian.

Illegal fishing in the Danube

Romanian Border Police officers within Turnu Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Romanian, 27 years old, trying to exit. He was international wanted for being involved in a theft.

Underage person hidden in a car

 Romanian Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Romanian woman, underage, 17 years old, hidden in the back of a car, trying to illegally exit Romania in order to reach her parents in France.
Law enforcement officers took all the imposed legal measures in regards to the underage person and the driver.

Criminal file for smuggling
Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of smuggling were drawn by Romanian Border Police officers within Albita Border Crosing Point, Vaslui County on the name of a Romanian woman, whom tried twice in a month to bring into Romania cigarettes from Republic of Moldova.

The cigarettes, valuing about 346 lei, were seized by Border Police officers.
Goods for sale without justifiable documents
Romanian Border Police officers within Falciu Border Police Sector, Vaslui County, were fined 6,000 lei each company who carried goods for sale without justifiable documents, in accordance with the law.
Coffee seized at Romanesti
Romanian Border Police officers within Romanesti Border Police Sector, Botosani County detected inside a car belonging to a Romanian, 30.6 kilos of coffee, in order to be sold. The coffe valuing about 530 lei was seized and the owner was imposed a fine of 1,000 lei.

Illegal fishing
Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard carried out several activities for countering and preventing illegal fishing within the responsibility area, seizing 436 kilos of fish, 73 monofilament nets 4,209 meters long, a boat and an engine of a boat.

Criminality on public roads
Romanian Border Police officers within Coast Guard detected while carrying out border surveillance and control activities within the area of responsibility four Romanians driving vehicles with falsified or expired documents.

Prior acts of criminal investigation in terms of the offense of usage of false documents or of complicity to forgery or driving a car without having valid registration documents were drawn by Border Police officers.

Seven Algerians detected at the border
   Romanian Border Police officers within Lunga Border Police Sector, Timis County, detected seven Algerians with ages from 19 to 38 years old, intending to illegally cross Serbian - Romanian border.

VW Golf pushed up to Nadlac
On 24.01.2012, Romanian Border Police officers within Nadlac Border Crossing Point, Arad County, detected a Bulgarian pushing VW Golf in order to pass border check as he had no driving license. The vehicle was stated as stolen from Germany on 23.01.2012.
